Summary: | 碩士 === 國立交通大學 === 企業管理碩士學程 === 103 === Oral cancer world epidemiology registers over 450,000 new cases annually, with 128,000 deaths per year making oral cancer the eighth most common cancer in the world and the third most common cancer in Southeast Asia. The conventional oral cancer screening procedure is not efficient which makes low screening rate.
-Doctors do not have incentives to perform oral cancer screening because they are lack of effective tools to have immediate results; it is not profitable and time consuming.
-Patients do not like to ask for biopsy because it is expensive, invasive, and must be done in hospital.
Governments have invested millions of dollars in oral cancer prevention, but the trend is still growing fast. There are few existing oral cancer detectors in the market as VELscope and Identafi, but their technology is merely on enhanced visual examination. Most importantly, none of them can tell instantly whether cancer cells exist or not.
Opticare is a medical device and data management company, bringing a faster, easier, and more reliable detection method for oral cancer. Our goal is to become the universal standard for oral cancer diagnosis and make it a part of standard oral examinations. Every year when people visit their dentist in the near future, Opticare will provide a painless three-minute screening that can immediately give a result of cancer probability.
We are pursuing an innovative business model that is based on the concept from strategy making (Ramon Casadesus-Masanell &; Joan Enric Ricart, 2010) and minimum winning game (Robert A. Burgelman &; Robert E. Siegel, 2007). To Leverage long-term relationships and services with doctors and patients, Opticare is building up a surveillance system which will have a continually growing database for medical practitioners and researchers.
