Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 電信管理研究所 === 103 === With the steep increase and advancement of ICTs, Internet becomes an important media, lots people develop and maintain social interpersonal relationships on the Internet, especially the young. They think the Internet is an indispensable communication channels. Along with this phenomenal growth, the internet has brought with numerous social interaction tools, such as computers, smart phones, tablets, which change our everyday life, and directly challenge the pattern of traditional face-to-face interaction. In this background, people use “slide generation” to describe the wave of digitization. Recently, many research investigate how this phenomenon affects interpersonal interaction, and extend to the scope of relationships between parents and children. However, the literature focus on young children, with few studies examining the interaction between young adult children and their parents. Moreover, for young adult children and their parents, communication and intimacy undoubtedly is the key to maintain good parent-child relationship. When children go to college, they have less time to be with family; On the other hand, working hard to support their family, parents also have little time to accompany their children. This may result alienation. The features of mobile instant messaging with the “anytime, anywhere”, “seamless interactivity” can really make up this emotional distance. Therefore, this study aim to focus on how ICT influence parent-child relationship by examining the use of mobile instant messaging among young adult children and their parents and the online intimacy. Additionally, We prove the use of ICTs can provide another communication channel between parents and children which help them to maintain relationship.
