Summary: | 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 都市計劃學系 === 103 === Cities keeps changing as its general principle which is observable and has the characteristic of circulation (Segnestam, 2002). Since post-war period, numerous rules and plans for cities’ development had appeared in Taiwan. However, population projection is the only principle for plan to follow that makes the planning vision couldn’t meet the demand in reality. Therefore, to find the regulations of physical environment in cities, this article attempts to use urban form to know the principle of physical environment; use phenomenon of urban form evolution to control the changing of cities and find the predominant forms (Whitehand, 2014) which is adapted to the demand of the cities’ condition.
First, use documentary analysis to conclude the methods of finding urban form evolution, and later use statistics analysis to induce the predominant forms and prove the phenomenon of urban form evolution in Taiwan. On closer explanation, the study uses building lots as the unit of urban form evolution, and also observes the relation between buildings, legal vacant lots and the sites, which are the elements of the building lots. In empirical analysis, there are 5 predominant forms. Among them, the predominant forms which appeared earlier lasted for longer time, while in contrast to current condition, predominant forms lasted for shorter time. Therefore, the study proves the phenomenon of urban form evolution for knowing the predominant forms of cities, and can make suggestions for future plan in urban planning.
