The manufacturing of lampholders relies conventionally on manual assembly, it is time consuming and laborious, and the quality of assembly may be unstable. And due to the poor assembly of the conductors with the lampholder bodies, the fluorescent of lamps may short-circuit and cause severe fire accident under certain work conditions. This study aims at presenting the solution to the problems in the automatic assembly of lampholders. This study explored how automatic assembly technology can be effectively applied to lampholders, in order to improve production efficiency and the use of safety of lampholders. It firstly identified the problems that assembly automation of lampholders may cause using the fishbone diagram from CPS theory. It then generated innovative ideas from TRIZ/ engineering parameters, principle of invention and technology radar chart. It also confirmed the concept design through patent search and avoidance design. Finally, it made the products more user-friendly through universal design. The specific contributions are as follows: 1.Vibratory automatic feeding device : through vibration and spiral material guide slot, it is able to effectively arrange the conductive sheets according to assembly positions, thus greatly increasing assembly speed and efficiency. It can significantly reduce manpower and cost. 2.Mechanic arm material-grabbing device: Through rotation and clamping jaw, it is able to put the conductive sheets in the feeding device quickly onto the of the assembly platform. It is also able to put the conductive sheets accurately onto the base bodies of lampholders, effectively reducing the errors from manual assembly an improving the assembly yield between conductive sheets and base bodies. It can reduce the incidence of short circuit with fluorescent lamps, and avoid fire accidents. 3.Mechanical arm assembly platform: The positioning fixture of the special mechanical arm has fixing and rotating functions. It can effectively connect the conductive sheets and base bodies, thus improving the precision and speed of assembly operation. 4.Benefits of signing industry-university cooperation with the manufacturers: After the lampholder assembly automation, yield enhancement of 60%; to assemble one hundred thousand calculations, unit costs fell by 30%; after the lampholder assembly automation, assembly speed increase of 30%; parts assembly process of deformation and fracture ratio decreased by 20%.
