As to the mass rearing and its agricultural applications of these parasitoid wasps, the longevity and fecundity of biological control agents are the key factors to influence the control efficiency. Therefore, this study was designed to verify that the longevity and fecundity of Snellenius manilae (Ashmead) are determinted by feeding parasitoid wasps on diets made by various sugars (glucose, maltose, sucrose or commercial sugar) and two amino acids (cysteine or lycine). As a result, all the sugar solutions prolonged the lifespan of S. manilae compared with the wasps fed on water. Furthermore, S. manilae had the longest length of life when fed by sucrose and commercial sugar solutions. When cysteine or lycine was added into the commercial sugar solution, the fecundities and longevities of S. manila had no significant difference among three treatments. However, the oviposition period of female wasps fed on the sugar solution containing cysteine was more concentrated. In addition, the lifetime of the mated female without oviposition was longer than the lifetime of mated male and mated female with oviposition. According to the current experimental results, it is obvious that different food resources have definitely influenced the lifespan of S. manila, and the sucrose or commercial sugar solutions should be the better choices to extend the S. manila’s lifespan.
