Based on the definition of the EPA “Dust river classification and delineation of the affected area”, the estimation of the level of concentrations of suspended particles were also studied. Also, the scopes of river dust were determined. According to the analysis results, the river area were divided into four groups, such as non-affected area, mildly affected area, and highly affected area. This study, using the average measured values of air quality monitoring data from Shalu and the meteorological stations at Wuqi, simulated the year and season variations in 2013 of fugitive dust in Taichung area. After the analysis of the exposure area, the potential sites of fugitive dust from riverbed in Taichung areas were delineated. By delineating the potential sites of fugitive dust from riverbed in Taichung areas, residents near river side have been informed about the expected dust occuring time.
