Summary: | 碩士 === 國立政治大學 === 華語文教學碩士學位學程 === 103 === The purpose of this study was to describe the learning adaptation process of Latin American students in Taiwan, finding the problems they met and the strategies they used. A qualitative method was employed in this study. Observing and interviewing with three Guatemala students and their friends, classmates, teachers, and administrators in National Cheng-Chi University was to investigate three factors: learning environment, learning motive and learning style. These three factors made their leaning adaptation stories in Taiwan.
The research finds out two factors affect their motive. One is their family background and the other is the lengths they need to stay in Taiwan. Their education background influences their learning style. In Taiwan, Chinese and English are widely used in learning environment. Case’s English ability, culture background, teacher’s attitude, these are three factors in their classroom. And Taiwanese imagination of foreigner is the factor which made Latin American students felt rejected by Taiwanese society. Most of their teachers still have the stereo type of Latin American students, but they would like to adjust their attitude to treat these students.
