The CVOS telematics platform can be treated as a back-end data processing sub-system while the terminal equipments can be considered as the front-end data collecting sub-system of the developed commercial vehicular operation service system. As to the system software using cloud-computing techniques, it is developed to provide fleet management service by integrating the CVOS telematics platform and the terminal equipments. In this thesis, a video surveillance system is designed and implemented, and will be incorporated into the commercial vehicular operation service system we have established before. It’s known that in the development of an automatic vehicle locator (AVL)/digital tachograph (DTG), an OBD (On-Board Diagnostic) II module is integrated together and by which we can collect almost complete engine control and monitors parts of the chassis, body and accessory devices, as well as the diagnostic control network of a vehicle. All the collected raw data will be used to construct a drive database regarding driver behaviors. With the helps of analyzing the raw data collected from a vehicle and observing the images or video signals coming from a video streaming engine, any driving aberrations of a driver will be notified immediately and thus the traffic accident events can be reduced significantly. Our forward-thinking idea is proposed from the behavioral education perspective and allows drivers, via interactive panel during driving, to monitor and understand whether their behaviors are in accordance with driving regulations and norms, thus drivers can be trained to obtain proper driving habits and prevents accidents from happening.
