碩士 === 明道大學 === 課程與教學研究所 === 103 === A Study on Parental Bonding, Social Support and Perceived Discrimination of New Immigrant Children Abstract This study aimed to explore the current status, differences, and correlations of parental bonding, social support, and perceived discrimination of new immigrant children in Taichung’s elementary schools. This paper contained a questionnaire survey, using the research tools such as Parental Bonding Scale, Social Support Scale, and Perceived Discrimination Scale, targeting the new immigrant children in the elementary schools’ upper graders. There were 259 valid research samples. The results were gathered and analyzed based on descriptive statistics, Independent-Samples t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson’s product-moment correlation. The research results were listed below: 1. Among the parental bonding styles of new immigrant children, the optimal bonding (high care and low protection) covered the most percentage while the weak bonding (low care and low protection) the least. 2. Social support of new immigrant children was at upper-intermediate level, with more family support than friend support. 3. Perceived discrimination of new immigrant children was relatively low in frequency. 4. Father’s parental bonding had a notable difference, depending on the gender and birth order of new immigrant children. 5. Social support of new immigrant children had a notable difference, depending on father’s or mother’s occupation. 6. New immigrant children with different father’s parental bonding had notable differences in social support and perceived discrimination. New immigrant children with different mother’s parental bonding had a notable difference in social support. 7. New immigrant children with different social support had a notable difference in mother’s parental bonding. 8. New immigrant children with different perceived discrimination had a notable difference in parental bonding. 9. Perceived discrimination of new immigrant children had a positive relationship with parents’ protection and a negative relationship with father’s care. 10. Social support of new immigrant children had a positive relationship with parents’ care and a negative relationship with parents’ protection.
