The research was to see if TPDE has third person effect upon the teachers and how TPDE affected teachers’ work stress. The questionnaire survey was done base on the third person effect theory. The participants of the survey were three hundred primary school teachers in Tainan who has or had taken part in TPDE. The subject is 300 teachers from public elementary schools in Tainan County. Among 296 questionnaires, 293 effective, 3 incomplete or with missing value are received. The effective response rate is 97.67%. The result was analyzed by SPSS and came up with the following conclusions: 1. Third person effect has positive influence upon the teachers in TPDE. 2. The teachers of different gender, different age groups, different seniority, different school size, different position in school has a little effect on their third person effect to join TPDE. 3. The education level of the teachers is irrelevant to their third person effect in joining TPDE. 4. The parents and the teachers who received the end result of TPDE but had few understanding of it would not be affected by the information. 5. If the end result of TPDE is of valuable reference, the teachers would anticipate greater stress from the parents, but they themselves would remain unaffected. 6. The more the teachers recognize third person effect, the less stressful they feel. 7. The understanding of third person effect would allow the teachers not to explain themselves as to the result of TPDE. In summary, some suggestions are offered according to this research for education authorities, schools, and elementary school teachers’future research.
