| Summary: | 碩士 === 嶺東科技大學 === 創意產品設計系碩士班 === 103 === Taiwan, originally with ingrained Chinese culture, is gradually westernized that it is wondered whether the ethos would be encroached, replaced, and completely obliterated. Wuxia novels, which used to be extremely popular, are rapidly circulated in the information-advanced world, especially in Mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, and even European and American regions. Wuxia is regarded as civil thoughts, spirit, and integrity that a person shall be indomitable and outspoken. It is not simply the education from ancient times, but is taught in Wuxia novels. Nevertheless, the trend of Wuxia is down. Although a lot of youngsters have blind faith in foreign things, they are praised for remaining the spirit of the Chinese nation. Would upholding the culture and spirit of the Chinese nation sparkle with the introduction of western design and thoughts?
Daily necessities are selected for the design, as they are close to human life and the commonness could easily affect everyday life. Sample Data, which allows intuitively or reflectively direct association, is utilized for the design in order to be closer to the essence for Wuxia design.
This study on Wuxia cultural design is concluded as below. Including the meaning of Wuxia culture in the design for the resonance with people could stimulate consumers’ purchase desire and deliver the user’s feeling of Wuxia, rather than projecting on the hot battles in books. Moreover, humorous design is covered for the witty and humorous effects so as to satisfy the user’s demeanor being a hero and the temporary indulgence in the inner fantasy. In this study, Wuxia spirit is considered as a positive energy, which could be delivered through products to present educational meanings as well as continue and promote the spirit of Wuxia culture.
Some dreams are hard to be realized; being a hero might be one of them. It is now a peaceful and prosperous modern city that Wuxia Dream might never come true. This design study attempts to make some efforts to realize modern Wuxia dream and perhaps continue the dream.
