Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄應用科技大學 === 金融系金融資訊碩士在職專班 === 103 === This study conducted a three-year (2011-2013) investigation into 36 branches of Bank K, and evaluated operating efficiency of each bank using data envelopment analysis, super efficiency model and Malmquist index. With “outstanding of deposits”, “outstanding of loans” and “personnel expenditure” as input items, and “fund commission income”, “properties & casualty commission income” and “life insurance commission income” as output items, the present study performed a performance evaluation of operating efficiency of wealth management for each business unit. Empirical findings were analyzed as below:
1. Efficiency analysis
For the three consecutive years from 2011 to 2013, there were eight branches with optimal “returns to scale” including Gangnei branch, Liuhe branch, Gushan branch, Yancheng branch, Sanduo branch, Dafa branch, Dali (Dachang) branch and Mingcheng branch, representing best operating efficiency, best benefit, and lowest production cost.
2. Super efficiency analysis
With regard to super efficiency, Yancheng branch and Dafa branch respectively ranked the first in terms of total technical efficiency in 2011 and 2012. In 2013, business performance of Zuoying branch ranked the first in terms of total technical efficiency. Analysis of super efficiency data for years 2011-2013 shows that branches occupying the first 20 places in terms of operating efficiency for three consecutive years are: Yancheng branch, Gushan branch, Mingcheng branch, Dachang (Dali) branch and Dafa branch.
3. Malmquist index analysis
The top three branches with greatest increase in productivity index for 2011-2012 are: Taoyuan branch, Gangshan Benjhou branch and Tainan branch. Bo’ai branch presents the biggest decline in productivity index. The top three branches having greatest increase in productivity index for 2012-2013 are: Gangshan Benjhou branch, Zuoying branch and Cijin branch. Mingcheng branch showed the biggest drop in productivity index.
