Applying "Reading comprehension strategies" appropriately can stimulate children's imagination; it is the key to start children’s learning potentials as well. Reading ability is the learning ability, and learning to read is also having the ability for self-learning. In recent years, reading implementation has already become one of crucial tasks during the elementary stage by the vigorous promotion of the government and private agencies.This action study put emphasis on enhancing first graders’ literacy by reading comprehension teaching. Moreover, it could enlighten children’s reading visions and get reading involved in life; increasing first graders’ behaviors in enjoying reading. The researcher investigated the implementation of enhancing first graders’ literacy by reading comprehension teaching through real teaching activities and reflections. The researcher would like to find out that some difficulties and solutions whether it could consistently increase first graders’ literate abilities by the teacher’s teaching instruction of reading and writing.Based on the research findings, this study summarized four conclusions as follows: Firstly, there was a positive impact on children's behaviors of enjoying reading by reading comprehension teaching. Secondly, it could enhance children's literacy through the combination of reading and writing. Thirdly, the researcher had a positive viewpoint that the reading comprehension teaching could reinforce children’s literacy, and give students the positive feedbacks as well. As a result, based on the findings, the researcher provided some conclusions and suggestions as the references for future studies on applying reading comprehension strategies into the teaching.
