Description
Summary:碩士 === 崑山科技大學 === 企業管理研究所 === 103 === C company is a good-sized sheet metal processing plant in southern Taiwan. Its production approach is to manufacture well-diversified products in smaller quantities. However, without a suited standard production time to measure the production capability, the current production approach at the company results in inevitable order delays. This research attempted to establish a standard production time by evaluating and analyzing the availability of the bending machines in order to improve the order fill-rates.Because of the natural of the “well-diversified, smaller quantities” production model, it is inefficient and uneconomical to adopt the old-fashioned mean that uses stopwatch to calculate the production time. The research adopted work sampling technique to determine the standard production time based on operators’ actual experiences and the production complexity. Targeting specific time periods, orders and operators, we first used work sampling to define the operation tasks. We then analyzed the bending difficulty levels from the actual orders and provided necessary time allowance to the operators. At the end, we combined the time required by the 3 mentioned tasks to further determine the standard production time.We also interviewed the competitors of C company to learn their circumstances on the production time. Referencing the equipment standard operation time data provided by the bending machine vendor, we summarized the best-fit production time for the bending machine operations. The research result indicates that the effective production time only take 60% of the overall time. Additionally, as 80% of the bending difficulty levels are considered easy, the work efficiency in general is not quite acceptable. In order to conclude the best-fit production time, we learned from the competitor interviews that we could use the Vfactory, the engineering management dashboard offered by the bending machine vendor, to provide the required information to the managers. Furthermore, Vfactory can also help improve the manufacturing workflows and decrease the inefficiency time.We suggest that C company could adopt our research conclusion in order to solve the production efficiency issues with the bending machines and further improve the equipment usage rates and management performances.
