Although sustainable development is an important strategy of a scenery area management, and the Scenic Area Services Agency of the Xiaowulai Scenic Area actively improves the recreation facilities and develops tourism, lack of feasible tools to monitor and manage the impacts of tourism is still a problem. Therefore, the aim of this study is to develop an indicator system based on the concept of sustainable development of ecotourism for the Xiaowulai Scenic Area at Taoyuan City in Taiwan. We used a hierarchical evaluation system including three subsystems, 13 dimensions, and 60 indicators for Scenic Area. Stakeholders including staff of the Scenic Area Services Agency, residents, and tourists were interviewed using questionnaire to evaluate the sustainability of tourism development of the Xiaowulai Scenic Area. The AMOEBA of tourism sustainability indicators (ATSI) model was utilized to illustrate individual levels of the sustainability of tourism indicators. The results showed that the evaluation score of sustainable development for Xiaowulai Scenic Area was 50.8, which indicated that the comprehensive status of tourism in Xiaowulai Scenic Area was “potentially sustainability.” This study provides a valuable tool for sustainable destination management to provide references for tourism planning, to achieve the sustainable development objectives of tourism of the Xiaowulai Scenic Area, 【Keywords】Ecotourism , Sustainable development, AMOEBA of tourism sustainability Wei Ying-Sheue Yang Sheng-Ping 魏映雪 楊勝評 2015 學位論文 ; thesis 92 zh-TW
