Summary:碩士 === 高雄醫學大學 === 性別研究所碩士班 === 103 === Nowadays we are surrounded by lot of discussions regarding young women’s androgynous style and culture in Taiwan, called Zhong Xing Nu Hai in Mandarin. Not only fashion industry also popular culture are influenced by this androgynous style. Compared to the traditional gender dualism bias, this new gender neutral climate is changing the image of young femininity and gender performances of girls. However in previous studies, women’s androgynous style is at most under the media studies or consumer behavior research, it is still rare to see the academic study focus on gender neutral subject. Therefore, the research hereby is cultural studies based, which considers Zhong Xing as a subculture, with the aim to investigate the gender experiences of androgynous subjects as well as how they build their self-identity constructions of being androgynous. The researcher conducted in-depth interviews with 15 participants, aged from 18 to 30, who take themselves as Zhong Xing Nu Hai. With their experiences-based, the main analysis are androgynous culture in mainstreaming society, Zhong Xing subjects’ gender and sexuality. From their doing gender experiences, the research highlights the distance between public imaginary and gender practices toward Zhong Xing subjects. In gender and sexuality analysis, the research is trying to enrich the discussion of Taiwanese LGBT culture and queer theory. By the daily life research, the essay will reflect the existence of different gender group, the diversity, the differences in Zhong Xing subculture, and make a blueprint for Taiwan young women’s Zhong Xing culture.
