碩士 === 景文科技大學 === 旅遊管理系觀光與餐旅管理碩士班 === 103 === Abstract Due to the government's advocations of the two-day weekend, the increase in national income, the changes in consumption patterns, the increase in recreational demand and the changes in the industrial activity patterns, "festivals and industrial tourism" gradually gets more attention. The development of tourism industry plays a major role in the economic development of a country. In order to increase regional income in rural areas, the use of local cultural resources to develop characteristic industries to promote local tourism and economic development emerges rapidly. The researcher adopted the methods of case study, in-depth interviews and participant observation to investigate the impacts of tourism festivals to the local tourism, the economy, the culture, the society and the derived benefits through the study of Wandan International Red Bean Festival. This research shows that Wandan International Red Bean Festival has the most intensive tourism activities in a year. The income generated in the festival also contributes the highest amount of revenue to the regional business comparing with in any other periods of time in a year. In almost every community in the thirty villages of Wandan township, there are 1-2 more restaurants or booths selling the major themes of the top one hundred gifts, such as red beans, its by-products, red bean cakes and the related industrial products, and also the rice soup in the traditional rice-reaping meal. Additionally, the cultural program of the temples and the ecological landscape of Li-Yu(carp) mountain, these are all the main purposes of the tourists visiting Wandan for sightseeing and touristing. The sustainability of red bean festival is crucial and beneficial to the sustainable development of the tourism industry and the economy of Wandan township. The researcher suggests that future related researchers can interview people in additional different categories to get richer and more detailed findings. We hope that this research can contribute to the further economic growth of Wandan township.
