Using an Importance Performance Analysis (IPA), this paper examined travelers’ perceived importance and performance of place The Study on Place Attractiveness of Bitan Scenic Area: An Importance-Performance Analysis on Bitan Scenic Area in New Taipei city. The six components of place attractiveness on Bitan Scenic Area identified were: public facilities, leisure-related facilities, natural resources, traffic accessibility, experience activity and festivities, and humanity resources. Data was collected from January to February 2015. A convenience sampling and face-to-face interview was conducted in this study. The procedure resulted in 330 usable responses. Subsequently, correlation analysis and Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) were employed in this study.
The results of this study indicate that public facilities, leisure-related facilities, and natural resources are top three ranking components of travelers’ perceived importance of place attractive, while traffic accessibility, experience activity and festivities, and humanity resources are top three ranking components of travelers’ perceived performance of place attractiveness on Bitan Scenic. The IPA grids illustrated that the public facilities, leisure-related facilities, and natural resources fell into the Concentrate Here quadrant. The results may provide some useful information for further researchers and provide some implications for management references.
