The industrial monitoring systems not only control the operations of the production systems but also monitor the performance and abnormal events of them. Due to the large volume of early industrial monitoring systems and lack of adequate communication systems, their settled and operating location were limited and the information of monitored devices could not be efficiently collected and integrated. In recent years, because of quick development in the technologies of embedded systems and popularization in Internet, integrating multiple functions on remote monitoring systems has become one of the important trends in the development of industrial monitoring systems. In this thesis, an embedded industrial computer is used as the development platform to implement a networking multifunctional industrial gateway. The proposed system can concurrently monitor multiple devices, and provide data gathering, data publishing, and data management. In addition, it can connect to Internet via mobile networks or other access networks to achieve remote monitoring as well as fast and convenient management functions.
