Summary:碩士 === 醒吾科技大學 === 觀光休閒系所 === 103 === ABSTRACT In late 1980s, the concept of sustainable development was introduced as a solution to the surge consumption of natural resources worldwide; in the meantime, the impact and trend of globalization had made global economic structure more vulnerable, deteriorated our environment and highly changed the homogeneity in the culture and our social structure. Hence, all the nations have to face not only unprecedented development challenges, but also the challenges in developing the operational model of local communities. To cope with these impacts, balance in ecology, society, and culture must be considered in indigenous sustainable developments. Developing an ecological community is a process of merging the sustainable organization and the management of environment in a community; residents have a shared vision to build a healthy living attitude, to carry on a happy and non-material satisfied life, to create cultural activities and an environment with self- confident and uniqueness. That is, the overall perspective of local sustainable community development is: "Based on intensive local caring and high-quality community space, we establish a local distinguishing feature and self-confidence with balanced development in ecology, society, and culture. The study derives from three fundamental principles in developing ecological rural sustainable communities ─ ecology, society, and culture. We discuss these three aspects profoundly with a view-point under globalization; furthermore, take Tailless Port ecological community in I-Lan as a study case to propose a practical empirical model for sustainable development and environment regeneration in a resilient community Keywords: Tailless Port community , ecological community, sustainable development, globalization
