They work in shifts to accomplish their tasks and assist in the surgery. Therefore the purposes of this study include (1)to investigate the relationship between demographic variables and personality types in anesthetist, (2)to investigate the relationship between demographic variables and tolerance in anesthetist, (3)to investigate the personality of anesthetist which influence their tolerance. The study took purposive sampling. Samples were taken from 21 hospitals. A total number of 305 structural questionaires were available. Use SPSS 21.0 to run analysis and descriptive statistics, t-test、one-way ANOVA and regression analysis for empirical analysis. The results showed that: First, the age, there were significant differences in the variables of extraversion, psychoticism and social desirability; family structure, there were significant differences in the variables of neuroticism and social desirability; seniority, there were significant differences in the variables of extraversion; shift work, there were significant differences in the variables of extraversion, neuroticsm and psychoticism. Second, tolerance of anesthetist, the age, there were significant differences in the variable of insomnia; family structure, there were significant differences in the variables of sleepiness and depression; seniority, there were significant differences in the variable of sleepiness; shift work, there were significant differences in the variables of insomnia, sleepiness and depression. Furthermore, insomnia in extraversion have a significant negative impact, neuroticism have a significant positive impact. sleepiness in extraversion have a significant negative impact, neuroticism and social desirability have a significant positive impact; depression in extraversion and neuroticism have a significant positive impact, in the psychoticism have a significant negative impact. The study could be a reference for whom in charge of hospital and anesthetist leader assign a reasonable and effective shift to employee, in order to reduce the negative impacts from unreasonable shift work and also to maintain anesthesia quality and patient safety.
