With the study tool titled “A Study on the Current Condition and Challenges of After-school Program Implemented by Preschool Educators in Public Kindergartens of New Taipei City” a survey was conducted on the preschool educators in the public kindergartens of New Taipei City. A total of 538 questionnaire copies were distributed and 466 copies were collected and 463 copies were valid with a return rate of 86.6% and a usable rate of 99.35%. Findings were analyzed using SPSS version 12.0 statistical software package for data analysis. Statistical methods such as reliability analysis, frequency distribution, percentages and one way ANOVA were applied. The results of the study are as follows: 1. For the "after-school program", the care hours are based on the needs of the parents and classes are divided based on the number of children with no meal provided. 2. A review system must be established for the "after-school program" to only include the preschoolers who truly need the extended care and screen out the enrollment solely for the grant, avoiding the waste of social resources. 3.For the administration of the "after-school program", the kindergarten must develop a procedure for handling emergencies and establish a SOP to make sure that there is a direction to follow when dealing with a crisis. 4. For the safe environment of the "after-school program", the kindergarten classrooms should be the main venue and there should be an emergency medical plan prepared by the kindergarten. 5. The teachers of the “after-school program” should mainly come from the current faculty. If it is necessary to hire external teachers, the measures for the appointment must be established with careful evaluation. 6. For the "after-school program" teachers’ leave, the kindergarten should work with the teachers to develop the leave measures and stipulate the leave, substitution and proxy methods. 7. For the capabilities of the teachers of the "after school program" teachers, they should be able to show professionalism with confidence when caring the young children, dealing with the parents and providing instruction. 8. The "after-school program" curriculum should be planned based on teachers’ expertise or be discussed by the teachers who provide instruction. 9. The different backgrounds of the preschool educators lead to the difference in the current implementation of the after-school programs.
