Description
Summary:碩士 === 玄奘大學 === 社會福利與社會工作學系碩士在職專班 === 103 === Facing the trend of aging, the society needs to deal with caring issues in dementia. Dementia is a chronic illness; therefore, the long-term quality caring model becomes essential. When caregivers take care of the elderly with dementia in daily life, they have many challenges and struggles. This study employs the qualitative method to analyze the experiences of primary caregivers through snowball sampling and in-depth interviews. Eight persons willingly participated in this research, including seven women and one man. The results showed as follows: the longer the dementia cares, the more the stress, and the less the individual time for caregivers; when the stage of dementia was progressive, primary caregivers tended to be depressive and their physical abilities were also impacted; interpersonal relationship, social interaction, living expense and financial resource were important reasons to explain the burden of caregivers. According to the findings, we suggested that related departments could improve the quality of caring mechanism and increase the quantity of caring resources, such as respite services. These efforts would help to relieve the load of home caregivers.
