Summary: | 碩士 === 華梵大學 === 工業設計學系碩士班 === 103 === The purpose of this study is to design a set of containers for plants growing observation. Nowadays plastic containers are mainly used for planting and observation in elementary school relative curriculum. However, in reality there are usage problems: too heavy, not easy to carry, not good for observation, not durable and not ornamental enough. Six main parts are included in this study: In the beginning, discussed how the relative curriculum had been progressed in each stage from primary school to senior high school. Five science and technology teachers were interviewed for understanding the usage situations of containers. In the meanwhile twelve common herbaceous plants were used for planting and observation to have a deep understanding of characteristics of growth in plants and to analyze the results of the observation that can be helpful for designing sizes of containers. Then, investigation and analysis of retail container’s type, material, advantages and disadvantages were made. Also, the differences of retail containers and observation needs for science and technology class were discussed in this study. The container’s specialties and characteristics were designed based on the findings and discussions. According to the results, ideas were developed to several designs. In the end, the test model was made based on the final design.The findings of this study are as follows:(1) Transparent material is good to observe a plant's root system growth.(2) Glass material has better resistance to UV ray, abrasion and corrosion.(3) A container with large and upward edge is good for plants’ placing and watering that is provided with easy manipulation.(4) Portable containers are easy to move.(5) Realization of ornamental value is one of the main parts in Aesthetic Education.
