Summary:碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 跨文化研究所語言學碩士班 === 103 === The purpose of this study is to investigate how Chinese metaphorical language of love in lyrics was used from 1960 to 2009. Based on Lakoff’s classification on metaphor, the collected data will be sorted, and they will also be divided in every ten years. The most dominant structural metaphors in every ten years will be the focus of this research. I will compare them to see how love metaphorical language was used in different era and find out the influence of social changes on love metaphorical language. The findings are: (1) The love metaphors were used a little differently over the past fifty years. (2) The same love metaphor has distinct implications in different eras. (3) Social changes really have impact on love metaphorical language in different eras. As a result, we can know that love metaphorical language was used differently in different eras, and the social changes result in the difference of love metaphorical language in every ten years.
