| Summary: | 碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 景觀設計學系碩士班 === 103 === Taolin-railway is one of the few industrial railway specifically for carriage of raw industrial materials. In the past, it is used to transport coal-fired to Linkou power plant, as well as raw material for factories along the way. It led to the development of the Taoyuan area.
As economy transformed, road transportation gradually replaced Taolin-railway. Though passenger transportation had been used for a short time, the railway was still suspended at the last. The post-industrial society drives the rapid development of the Taoyuan urbanization. And the surrounding landscape along the railway changed from farmland into industrial plants, then into the urban residential neighborhoods. Reusing or regenerating railway resources with urban development pressure and public environmental awareness promotion has become an important issue of urban development.
In the future, Taoyuan government will use sustainability of life, production, and ecology as the principle of urban and rural development. Accompanied with reviewing the land-use along the railway, the regeneration of Taolin-railway should be given different levels of thinking. This study identifies the railway’s potentials and refers to the international cases to propose strategies for how Taolin-railway can be transited to human oriented traffic that also provides green infrastructure for north Taoyuan.
