After the rise of social networking services (SNS), Facebook has rapidly become the most popular social networking sites. This thesis aims to analyze the influence that a homeroom teacher has on classroom management by utilizing the online functions of Facebook. The purposes of this analysis are as follows. First, what is the influence on practical classroom management teachers have when they utilize the technique of self-disclosure on Facebook? Second, what is the influence on practical classroom management teachers have when they apply classroom management online? Third, will the variable background of students makes difference to online self-disclosure, online classroom management, and practical classroom management? The thesis will conduct analysis through statistic methods including descriptive statistics, one-way analysis of variance, linear regression, and Independent-Sample T Test. The findings of the thesis are as follows. First, the high level of the self-disclosure that a teacher presents on Facebook greatly contributes to the interaction between teachers and students. This technique has a great effect on enhancing practical classroom management, teachers and students alike. Second, if a homeroom teacher joins a Facebook group founded by students, it will be more convenient for them to handle classroom affairs, which will then enhance the efficiency of classroom management effectively. Third, the way a homeroom teacher applies various functions of Facebook to online classroom management can generate positive effect on practical classroom management, both in interactional and emotional caring perspectives. This helps a homeroom teacher understands more about students’ personality and how to deal with students’ emotional problems. Fourth, the diversity of gender and grades of students makes no striking difference when a homeroom teacher applies Facebook to self-disclosure, online classroom managemnet, and practical classroom management. Last, as to the homeroom teachers who teach major subjects, since they spend more time with students, they have more chances to interact with their students. To understand students more, teachers spend more time on self-disclosure and online classroom management. Therefore, they gain higher scores on average on every aspect than those homeroom teachers who teach non-major subjects.
