It examined the differences in the sense of meaning in life and depressed moods of junior high school adolescents with different personal traits and life experiences. The interrelationship between the sense of meaning in life and depressed moods of junior high school adolescents were analyzed. The research took the adolescents in junior high schools in Yilan County as the population. Questionnaires were conducted in schools of different sizes. There were totally 1060 effective questionnaires. The main instruments for research include “Sense of Purpose in Life Test” and “Adolescent Depression Scale”. The results were concluded as follows. 1.The junior high school adolescents of Yilan County generally performed above average in “sense of meaning in life”. 2.The junior high school adolescents of Yilan County generally showed low depressed mood. 3.When comparing the sense of meaning in life of adolescents with different personal traits, no difference was found in “genders”. But there were differences in “grades”, “academic performance”, and “self-evaluated mental and physical health”. 4.When comparing the depressed moods of adolescents with different personal traits, no difference was found in “genders” and “grades”. But there were differences in “academic performance” and “self-evaluated mental and physical health”. 5.When comparing the sense of meaning in life of adolescents with different life experiences, no difference was found in “suicide experience”. But there were differences in “family quarrel experiences”, “experiences of domestic violence”, “family drinking habits”, “experiences of public service”, “time for workout”, “sources of stress”, and “recourses”. 6.When comparing depressed moods of adolescents with different life experiences, no difference was found in “sources of stress”. But there were differences in “family quarrel experiences”, “experiences of domestic violence”, “family drinking habits”, “suicide experiences”, “experiences of public service”, “time for workout”, and “recourses”. 7.Medium negative correlation was found between sense of meaning in life and depressed moods. Finally, based on the findings and conclusions of the research, specific suggestions were proposed as references for individuals, families, schools, educational administrations, and future studies.
