Additive manufacturing has become a focus of national investment in major technologies. This research investigates the future trend of additive manufacturing technology based on the patent analysis method. This work used data from the United States Patent and Trademark Office and social networks to group patents. Moreover, the literature review was conducted by integrating the text mining method with the life-cycle model to forecast the trend of manufacturing technology and the phases of the product life cycle. Research results identified six mainstream technologies of additive manufacturing. The technique involving circuit conductor assembly is still under development. The maturity phase focuses on powder types, ultraviolet use in the manufacturing process, and medical materials. The saturation phase emphasizes the use of plastic materials, print head technology, and print forming.
