Description
Summary:碩士 === 大葉大學 === 設計暨藝術學院碩士班 === 102 === Exterior form of passenger car is very important factor for attracting customers. Most car manufacturers tend to show the front view and the side view while in the daily lives what most drivers see is the rear view of the car ahead. This implies the importance to have beautiful rear views. This study was to investigate how the rear-view elements and their relationships influence the beauty of the rear view. Twenty passenger cars were collected and used as references for generating line-drawing samples. Two levels of grey scale were applied to simulate light and dark colors. Samples were shown to subjects to evaluate the level of beautifulness. The results show that the grey scales do influence the evaluation. Evaluation of feature elements and their relationships were also made to five samples of various beautiful levels. Because the amount of feature elements varies among sample cars, the ratio of the negative scores to the positive scores was employed as an index for the assessment. The results show that the sequence based on assessment of feature elements and appropriateness of their relationships coincides with that based on direct evaluation of the rear views. That supports the possibility using the methodology for improving the design
