Metastasis is the main points making lung cancer patient dead. There are many natural extracts is being researched to inhibit cancer proliferation and mobility. α-Solanine is the natural glycoalkaloid in potato, in recent research, α-Solanine was identified which can inhibited cell proliferation in breast cancer cell, colorectal cancer, liver cancer, and prostate cancer, but it is unclear in lung cancer. We used a highly-metastatic lung adenocarcinoma cell line CL1-5 as a model, treatment CL1-5 cell lines with α-Solanine in dose-dependent manner, we found α-Solanine inhibit lung cancer cell proliferation, colony formation, migration and invasion, even made lung cancer cell lines CL1-5 change the phenotype. Finally we used Microarray to compare with the gene expression of CL1-5 lung cancer cell lines with different dose of α-Solanine, then we used David functional annotation tool to analyze downstream signal pathway. Our result suggested α-Solanine is able to inhibits not only cell proliferation via NFкB pathway but also reduces cell mobility by rearrange the cytoskeleton.
