This study is to investigate the ingredients of stability reagents and the influence on the performance of nickel coating layer on substrate surface and the stability of plating solution. In the experimental procedure:the stability reagent was extracted by ethyl acetate following column chromatography to separate the extracted components, qualitative and quantitative analysis were carried out by the following instruments:infrared spectroscopy (IR), ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV/Vis), nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and matrix-assisted laser desorption time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS). The analysis results have successfully identified the main ingredient of the stability reagent as 2-mercaptothiazoline, and concentration of about 1800 ppm accounted for 60% of the total solids.   The second part is to test the function of an electroless nickel plating solution with replaced reagents 2-mercaptothiazoline. The tests include coating performance on fabric surface and the stability of plating solution. The similar result, were obtained between the original plating solution and with or without 2-mercaptothiazoline adding plating solution for all tests.
