Summary:碩士 === 朝陽科技大學 === 資訊管理系 === 103 === In recent years, with the popularity of mobile device and the rise of instant messengers, teachers and parents may communicate with each other via another option, i.e. instant messaging, besides communication book, telephone, parent-teacher meeting, home visiting, class homepage. Instant messengers have become widely accepted due to its instant convenience and numerous additional functions. This study aims to investigate teachers’ usage intention and acceptance of instant messaging (IM) as a tool in parent-teacher communication. In this study, based on the technology acceptance model, the subjects are elementary school teachers from Dali District of Taichung City; information literacy and past interaction experience are external variables. This study explores the correlation of information literacy, past interaction experience, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and usage intention using questionnaire. According to the quantitative analysis, the results have shown that parent-teacher communication focuses on immediacy, speediness and interactivity, meaning that teachers are accustomed to communicate with parents using past tools of communication. Tech-savvy teachers adapt more easily to using instant messaging in parent-teacher communication. Moreover, both perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use are critical factors influencing usage intention.
