The difference between student’s gender and grade, the type of school and the promoted of class reading were examined. Questionnaire of “School Reading Environment” and “Reading Behavior” were used as the research tools. A total of 1380 questionnaires were distributed to senior high school students in Taichung City where in 1270 are valid, which equals to a return ratio of 92.7%. The collected data were analyzed via descriptive statistics, t- test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s product moment correlation and multiple regression. The major findings of this study are listed as follows: (1)Senior high school students perceive middle level from the school reading environment, the dimension of the teacher reading support has the highest score. (2)Senior high school students perceive middle high level from the reading behavior, the dimension of the reading habits has the highest score. (3)Different gender, school type and promote of class reading activities of senior high school students have significant differences in the school reading environment. (4)Different gender, school grade and school type of senior high school students have significant differences in the reading behavior. (5)The school reading environment and the reading behavior are positively correlated. (6)The school reading environment of senior high school students is effectively predicted by their reading behavior. Both academic and practical implications based on the findings and discussions have been provided the suggestion for educational administrator, school administrator, senior high school teachers and the reference of future studies.
