AlN coatings are grown on substrates as heat sink by electrostatic sprayed process. The 18 orthogonal arrays of the LEDs with a signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio are adopted and the impact of the effect of the spraying parameters with an analysis of variance (ANOVA) on the AlN coatings is examined. The junction temperatures of AlN coated heat sink are explored using an infrared camera. In addition, the optical characteristics of the LED, such as its lumens and luminous efficiency using an integrating sphere are evaluated. In this study, cooling effect on the junction temperature of LED substrate, and enhancing optical characteristics of the LED are obtained through the optimal design. The experimental results show that using AlN ceramics on Al substrate that can effectively enhance the heat dissipation and luminous efficiency, provides a high heat transfer capability and an effective thermal management.
