Description
Summary:碩士 === 中央警察大學 === 消防科學研究所 === 103 === The largest amount majority of historic buildings in Taiwan are of the Southern Fukien Style. Out of the surveyed number of recorded historic site fires, 10 fire events were associated with fire spread, affecting a total of 133 buildings. Fires involving historic buildings not only caused severe damage to historic building itself, requiring massive investment of manpower and resources for the follow-up repairs and reconstruction, but burned out portions from these fires can never be recovered. The purpose of this study is to construct a fire spread model of a Southern Fukien Style historic building and its neighboring vendors, and discuss factors of fire risk and disaster scenarios including reliability of the installed soft and hardware equipment for ensuring the protection of historic districts, and the effectiveness of these equipment in reducing the risk of fire and enhancing the overall resilience. The selected target is the Jingmei Temple and its neighboring vendors in Taipei City. This study uses FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) for simulation of fire spread from external fires, to simulate the relationship between the historic buildings and neighboring vendors. The simulation results are used to analyze and identify fire risk factors, review the current management policies and protections that are effective in reducing fire spread, and discuss fire safety measures. Through discussions on the safety distance between the Southern Fukien Style buildings and its neighboring vendors, this research investigates the relationship between the safety distance of buildings and the fire-spread behavior to provide management guidelines and consultations for long-term protection to help reduce the frequency of fire and extent of fire damages.
