Female rights are valued by degrees in recent years; females do the works considered only males could do, especially lots of females are promoted as a supervisor in Japanese government, for the government intending to break the traditional image of males and let females bring what they have learnt into full play. However, it is hard to break gender stereotype in a short time; females indeed own a chance to apply what they have learnt, meanwhile they are still tied down by traditional ideas. They are often torn between choosing self-pursuit and responsibilities. Japanese Metropolitan Police Department brought up a plan to employ more females to work in various departments in 2006 hoping females would want to be a part of the police. However, female role in the police is more complicated compared to female role in other fields, because the features of police’s job and the expectation from people cause female police have to face the responsibilities from the job and the stress from outside. There is a huge difference between police’s ‘masculine image’ and females’ ‘feminine image’ expected by people. Females are generally expected to be professional, yet still have the ‘feminine side’. It is also often heard that females are ‘lack of capacity’, however they are still forced to handle daily duties; it makes female not able to take care of the jobs and daily duties well – as a result, the only thing they could do is retreat. To fulfill these kinds of inconsistent expectation, ‘androgyny’ will be one of the characters every field want for their employees in the future. The thesis would like to discuss the changes of female roles in the society and the situations of female careers by analyzing the changes of female roles through the history; and then I would like to proceed to the next step to look into Japanese female police’s future development by analyzing the image of Miyazaki Hayao’s female characters based on the view of ‘androgyny’ to define female police’s role in the future. 林麗珊 1040 學位論文 ; thesis 173 zh-TW |
