Description
Summary:碩士 === 長榮大學 === 翻譯學系碩士班 === 103 === The aim of this study is to explore the Chinese translation of an American novel, The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake, by Aimee Bender. By examining both the original English version and Chinese translation of the book, this paper presents the translator’s skills and problems, and my suggestions for improvements of the Chinese version through the discussion of a couple of translation theories. Chapter One includes motivation, purpose and methodology while Chapter Two investigates the novel, the translator, the author and related literary materials. In Chapter Three, translator’s skills were discussed. Chapter Four is about the foreignization phenomenon in the Chinese translation of the novel. Finally, the conclusion was discussed in Chapter Five. Combining the theories with practice, this thesis analyzes the phrases, sentences and passages, suggesting better skill and method for translators to help their improvement of translation.
