People can pilgrimage and enjoy the journey in the process of participating in religious tourism activities, through which religious tourism atmosphere is formed gradually. This study aims to apply geographic information system spatial statistical analysis to research and analyze Yilan traffic facet, temples facet, tourism resources facet and topographical features through Kriging method, kernel density estimation method, and numerical elevation model and overlay analysis, thereby learning Yilan religious tourism suitability distribution location. Ten factors, namely, kernel density above the main roads, kernel density of conformity registration temples, kernel density of railway stations, the Ministry of Culture temple Kriging, Yilan temple net Kriging, religion Hyakkei Kriging, interchange Kriging, tourism resources Kriging, slope and elevation are employed for overlay analysis. The results show that six townships including Wujie Township, Luodong Township, Dongshan Township, Yilan City, Jhuangwei Township and Jiaosi Township are suitable for developing religious tourism, among which Wujie Township, Luodong Township and Dongshan Township are taken as core development areas, followed by Yilan City, Jhuangwei Township and Jiaoxi Township; while the eastern plains of Jiaoxi Township are more appropriate. Additionally, it’s known from slopes under various temples obtained through elevation numerical model analysis that the slopes of temples suitable for religious tourism areas are low-lying areas mostly less than 10% as well as those with altitude below 50M. The study conducts research through collecting Yilan transportation, temples, tourism resources and topographic features, and conducts spatial statistical analysis by geographic information system and then conducts a comprehensive discussion on traffic facet, temples facet, tourism resources and topographic features, and classifies the impact of temples on the suitability of terrain features.
