To address issues of aged society, both government and non-government institution provide models of long-term care. Respite services are designed to allow primary caregivers to take a rest, which is one of long-term care model to improve quality of life for both patients and caregivers. The utilization rate of respite services was relatively low even though it has been pushed for many years, especially institutional respite care. Therefore, this study is aimed at understanding people’s awareness and demand of long-term care policies, and also their status and difficulties in the use of respite services.
Revised Anderson’s behavioral model is applied to examine people’s behavior on respite services. Over 300 collected questionnaires are performed structural analysis, descriptive statistics analysis, multiple analysis of variance (MANOVA) to seek integration of different facets and to further perform differences analysis on users based on contextual factors. The results of this study could provide reference respite services for future health policies of governments and recommendation for institutional respite care, which may make the services become popular and raise people’s awareness. Furthermore, the results could help to improve the willingness of people to use respite services by considering caregivers’ demand, barriers to using respite services, and integration of care services resources.
