Summary: | 碩士 === 中華大學 === 科技管理學系碩士班 === 103 === Due to the development of technology and the Internet and the popularity of the smart phone, the social network has become an important communication tool for contemporary people. Among a wide variety of social networks, Line is a real-time communicative application for its convenience. In recent years, a great number of teachers utilize it as a real-time communication platform between teacher and students. However, can this new technology really benefit the traditional communication channel and effectively enhance class management, upgrade students’ learning motivation, and increase learning outcomes? This issue is worth our discussions. As such, this study attempts to discuss the influence of students using Line for class management, class atmosphere, learning motivation and learning outcomes for reference of teachers when using Line for class management to increase student learning outcomes (SLO).
To achieve that purpose, the study aimed at students at public junior high schools across Taoyuan who apply Line to their class management. We adopted a questionnaire survey by using relevant literature to design a questionnaire over variables such as class management, class atmosphere, student learning motivation, and SLO, etc. After questionnaires were collected, the study proceeded to employ a cluster analysis to cluster the students by degree of Line use. Moreover, a multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) was adopted to analyze the influence of the degree of Line use on each research variance. Besides, through SEM, we attempted to understand the connection between class management, class atmosphere, learning motivation, and SLO. Results show that clusters which use Line and find it convenient have more identification and achievements. In addition, they tend to observe regulations and be harmonious and better in autonomous learning and learning motivation. Clusters which do not use Line or find it useless tend to hold a passive attitude toward class management and are slightly unsatisfied with class atmosphere and lower in terms of learning motivation. Finally, this study proposed relevant suggestions for reference of teachers in using Line to engage in their class management, facilitate teacher-student communication, enhance student learning motivation, and increase SLO.
