Summary: | 碩士 === 中華大學 === 科技管理學系碩士班 === 103 === The purpose of the study is to look into the present state of how the paraprofessionals in special education schools feel about job stress and coping strategies. Focuses of the study are to compare the discrepancy of the feeling about job stress and coping strategies within different backgrounds,and to realize the correlation between job stress and coping strategies.
The study adopted questionnaire survey method. 434 paraprofessionals were recruited from the national public special education schools, and 394 valid questionnaires were completed. For statistic analysis, descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson product-moment correlation are adopted. The findings of the research are as follows:
1.Paraprofessionals have a medium level job stress. Among various dimensions of job stress, the paraprofessionals present the highest level of job stress in“workload”, and then,in order, “job characteristics”, “child education and caring”, “student’s problems”, and “administrative communication”
2.Paraprofessionals have a medium to high level of adopting stress management strategies. Among various dimensions of coping strategies, the paraprofessionals use “solving problem”most, then“self-adjustment”,“requesting help”, and “delay action”in order.
3.In terms of job stress,paraprofessionals have significant variances among“educational background”, “type of school”,“school size”, “seniority”and “job level” .
4.In terms of coping strategies, paraprofessionals have significant variances among in“sex”, “marital status”, “educational background”, “school size”, “primary or high school programs”, “seniority” and “job level ”.
5.Job stress and coping strategies of paraprofessionals reach a significant positive correlation in between. When the paraprofessionals’ job stress gets higher, their use of coping strategies gets higher and the job stress level will affect the coping strategies they use.
The finding of the study provides suggestions for educational organisations,special education schools, paraprofessionals and future researchers.
