Summary: | 碩士 === 中華大學 === 行政管理學系碩士班 === 103 === This study aims to explore the status quo of policy implementation regarding reading education in a certain junior high school in Taoyuan City, as well as the influence factors of implementation and the difficulties and needs in the promoting process.
This qualitative study adopts document analysis and in-depth interview. The subjects were the teachers in a public junior high school in Taoyuan City, including administrative staff, home room teacher, Chinese language teachers, and some parents. They were interviewed one by one. The results are as follows:
1.Status quo of implementation: morning reading activities and reading course planning were the most effective. The implementation was limited due to the exam pressure.
2.Background of implementation: the education of Chinese language has been implemented for 12 years; it has enhanced patents’ and students’ awareness of the importance of reading education.
3.The willingness and abilities of implementation staff: all items of teaching training can improve teachers’ implementation abilities; time coordination will affect the willingness of the staff; the training of Chinese language contest instruction cannot match teachers’ expertise and thus it will affect the teacher’s teaching willingness.
4.Resources of implementation: The school can effectively combine governmental and social resources; schools can apply for funds on their own; lots of plans are not adequately promoted and cannot effectively implemented; there are not enough teaching resources to assist teachers in promoting reading education.
5.Implementation strategies: The school can adopt multiple strategies and improve students’ reading motivation; reading sheet cannot enhance students’ reading motivation.
6.Library operation: The expense for book acquisition is adequate; there are large quantities of books but the types can be more diversified. There is some room for improvement regarding equipment, environment and management; There is a lack of professionals to promote the education on how to utilize the library.
Based on the research results, this study proposes suggestions to the educational administration organizations, schools and future researchers.
