Sixty 13-year-old middle school students were participated in the study and were randomly divided into experimental and control groups. Each group consisted of 15 females and 15 males. The subjects in the experimental group joined the dumbbell training for five consecutive days per week. The subjects in the control group did not have dumbbell training. The Analysis of variance results showed that the isometric arm muscle strength between the two groups was not significant (p= 0.054). The isometric arm strengths among the weeks of training (p= 0.008) and between genders (p<0.0001)were however, significant. Duncan's multiple range test results indicated that females(17.64 kgf) had significantly lower isomeric arm muscle strength than males(28.21 kgf). In the sixth week, the isometric arm muscle strength of the subjects(25.79 kgf)was significantly higher than that of the beginning of the experiment(22.78 kgf). The isometric arm strength between the two groups by t-test was not significant every week but the differences of the isometric arm strength between the two groups gradually expanded after the fifth week. Dumbbell training on the isometric arm muscle strength for teenagers was significant impact after the fifth week. Three regression model was developed to predict the isometric muscular strength using the anthropometric data. The R2 of this model are 0.52,0.45 and 0.95. The models can be adopted to predict isometric strengths for the teenagers and are help for designers to develop new muscle training products for teenagers. Kai-Way Li 李開偉 2015 學位論文 ; thesis 62 zh-TW
