Summary: | 博士 === 中華大學 === 土木工程學系博士班 === 103 === Every life spaces and neighborhood centers of Taiwan has its own unique context in the process of traditional to modern development. Different with life experience of the Western World, alleys and lanes are citizens’ primary life places in which people can observe and learn from real life through their individual space memory. Because of unclear characteristics of urban development and the Zoning in Taiwan, mix-use areas are almost everywhere, thus undistinguishable features of life spaces, especially alleys of residential area, seems unable to get balance between planners’ thoughts and residents’ needs.
Following above-mentioned issue, the study discussed the conflicts between night economy and living environment in “ShiDa Rd.”-one of Taipei’s life domains- through literature review and residents’ interview. This research attempted to explore two topics to understand why the conflicts happened: the relevance and influence of night economy for alley’s living environment and dynamic alley culture of Taipei for life domain. The study used 15 elements to examine how the differences of urban regeneration, such as location, economic types, building form and zoning etc., influences life of alleys among physical environment, participants (included residents and visitors) of local activities, and life around ShiDa Rd. in 2011 and 2015. The study used SPSS analysis tools, descriptive statistics and Spearman's rank correlation coefficient, to explain the data of participants’ interview. Through the TOWS Matrix for situation analysis, the study found that the hardware of improvement is one significant mean to regenerate life domains; however, local governance and immaterial regenerated mechanism are more important to advantage the quality of alley’s living environment as a booming creative quarter in community.
