The subjects of this study were 28 students in a class of Qionglin elementary school in Hsinchu County. Compared learning motivation and outcomes in fifth-grade when students were taught by “The Grammar Translation Method” with sixth-grade when students were taught by the new teaching strategy with TRIZ theory, and verify TRIZ theory can effectively solve students’ English learning difficulties or not. The followings were conclusions of this study: 1. In the case of the bimodal distribution (BD) of students’ English abilities, the contradiction matrix of TRIZ theory can be indeed applied to reform the teaching strategy and improve low- achievement students’ learning confidence. Therefore, the English learning motivation can be enhanced. 2. Most students were afraid of speaking English. However, the physical-contradiction analysis of TRIZ theory can provide proper teaching strategy and make most of them are braver to speak English. 3. The integrative motivation of students’ English learning motivation is low. Based on original teaching plan of culture festival, the new festival activities can be re-created by the substance-field analysis of TRIZ theory. This new lesson plan can indeed improve students’ integrative motivation. 4. This study, using TRIZ theory to improve English learning motivation gets good result, therefore, teachers can also use TRIZ thoery to improve other area’s learning motivation.
