Over the past twenty years, the electronic industry has become one of the main industries in Taiwan. Under the mass production and use of those electronic products, how to deal with the problems of recycling of defunct electronic appliances and post sale services ecologically has become an increasingly important issue. Taiwan's ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) manufacturers play a lead role in the world notebook pc industry. In order to strengthen its competitiveness, the W company provides recycling service for notebook computers (aka, Green Ecological Services). This environment friendly service industry is viewed as a new booming industry that is also the focus of this study. This study looked firstly at the electronic waste and recycling market from the international market perspective. Then the study narrowed its scope to focus on the Taiwan's recycling of defunct notebooks. The study used W company's publicly available information and applied Porter Five Forces Analysis and the SWOT analysis to understand the current competitive landscape of Green Ecological Services in Taiwan, in order to assess the feasibility of establishing a business unit of green ecological services in the W company.
