The main purposes of the study are to explore the correlation between behavior disturbance of the 4th,5th and 6th graders students in the elementary schools and mother's discipline attitude. There are five purposes of this study: (1) to understand the current situation of the elementary school students's behavior disturbance. (2) to understand the current situation of the mother's discipline attitude. (3) to investigate high and low children's behavior disturbance in the mather's discipline attitude. (4) to analysis the relationship between the elementary school students's behavior disturbance and mother's discipline attitude. (5) to investigate the behavior disturbance could be predicted the mother's discipline attitude.
Survey method was chosen and the samples were 326 elementary school children from Taoyuan City. The research questionnaire is composed of “Children's Behavior Disturbance Scale Fourth Edition”, “Mother's Discipline Attitude Questionnaire” and ''Basic Information Questionnaire". The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient, t-test , ANOVA and stepwise multiple regression.
The research results are as the following:
1. The elementary school students's behavior disturbance is not high, and the higher behavior disturbance is school life disturbance .
2. The mother's discipline attitude is not high, and the higher discipline attitude is ambivalent attitude.
3. There is no significant difference on the elementary school students's behavior disturbance, due to family number of children, SES, mother’s education and family structure.
4. There is no significant difference on the mother's discipline attitude, due to gender, grade, amily number of children, SES, mother’s education and family structure.
5. High and low children's behavior disturbance in the mather's discipline attitude at all levels is significant.
6. The relationship between ahe elementary school children's behavior disturbance and mother's discipline attitude is significant.
7. The elementary school students's family life disturbance accounts most for the mother's discipline attitude.
In conclusion, according to the findings listed above, suggestions were made respectively for family education, educational authorities and further research.
