This study, based on assessing the needs for preparing primary school teachers to teach physical education, therefore, evaluates a one-day Physical education in-service program which was prescribed for primary school teachers by the In-service Department of the Swaziland Ministry of Education and Training. The main purpose of the study was to inquire about the impact of the in-service program for physical education teachers of primary schools in Swaziland in terms of whether it achieved its objectives and as well as the formulation of guidelines to assist the In-service providers in the development of effective in-service training programs. A qualitative, descriptive and interpretive design was implemented. Data was collected through interviewing the trainees and their trainers. Analysis of related documents of the program was also used to collect data. The collected data were analyzed qualitatively. The analyses of the findings raised serious concerns about the appropriateness of the in-service program and revealed that it did not accomplish its intended objectives. The study brought to light the ineffectiveness of the In-service program in terms of planning and execution. The study gave suggestions for the future revision and designing the in-service program for primary school physical education teachers. The study stressed for making needs analysis, provide adequate materials for the program, devising a mechanism for the follow-up of the trainees and for providing facilities to the trainees for implementation of the In-service training input.
