India has officially become a nuclear states, working on its nuclear strategy since the successful nuclear test in 1998. There are two main factors that India wanted to develop its nuclear power. One of them is the unstable international situation while the other one is that India is desperately pursuing a higher position among countries. With nuclear power, India is considered one of the most powerful countries in the world, being able to determine major national affairs in Asia. Confronting its completely different opponents such as China and Pakistan, India has to decide whether to expand its nuclear power to gain advantage or remain minimum nuclear power to ensure its own safety. The main purposes of this essay are to evaluate India’s nuclear strategy by analyzing different periods of international and its own national situation, discuss the relationships among India, China, and Pakistan in order to disclose the influence and the consequences of nuclear power development in India.
